Overall, the USDA reported the national cattle inventory was down 2% on 1/1/12 versus 1/1/11, with beef cows down 3% and fed cattle up 1%.

Feeders of all classes were firm to +$5 last week.  Corn gained 30¢ and fed cattle futures finished the week steady after a $1.50 midweek rally.

This kind of volatility is now the norm so be sure to check your breakevens before you buy!

At Beeflinks our goal is to bring today's beef producers and cattle feeders the latest information to help them improve efficiency and profitability.
